Mark (eYeBall) Kneeskern was an artist/ author/ musician - you name it. He would split his time between Terlingua, Texas, Chaffee County, Colorado, and with his family in Iowa (and many other places on the road) The Mark (eYbAll) scholarship was created in his memory and is funded primarily by the Funky Junk/ Terlingua Music Bash. Mark was known to many as The Last American Hitchhiker (more info https://www.amazon.com/Last-AMERICAN-Hitch-Hiker/dp/055729875X ).
This scholarship benefits the students of the Terlingua School District.

Cabin 10, Inc. is thrilled to have awarded
The 2025 Mark Kneeskern Memorial Scholarship to Caitlin Staib.
Caitlin moved to Terlingua when she was barely 14 years old and credits the arts, and the Terlingua community’s love and support of the arts, as her inspiration to pursue them. She says the whole town of Terlingua seemed to center around art, authenticity, and creativity. That art became the way she coped with her new-found world when she and her family first moved to the Big Bend, and she has now made it a central part of her life. Caitlin graduated from Big Bend High School and will be pursuing a Fine Arts degree
at Texas A&M, Corpus Christi.
Caitlin is one of our most deserving recipients and Cabin 10 wishes her every success and will be following her career closely!
Mark would be proud!
Melenie Orozco - recipient of the 2023 Mark Kneeskern Scholarship. Melenie was a graduate of Terlingua High School and is now attending Sul Ross.
And . . . the 2024 Terlingua Music Bash is a wrap!!
About the Terlingua Music Bash
The Terlingua Music Bash was conceived back in the 90's when Al Barlow and Garth Angleton from New Braunfels started making an annual trek to Terlingua. They were joined by other musicians from Central Texas where they hung out and played music with the locals, resulting in decades long friendships and countless Terlingua moonlit song circles. A gathering of free thinkers, reminiscing the old, while creating the new.
Participation has ebbed and flowed over the years, with Corba Jones keeping the fire burning for several years and, more recently, the Wayward Gypsies taking the reins when Corba could no longer make the trip out.
Last year, Cabin 10 became involved by joining the bash with a "Funky Junk" fundraiser, raising money to help fund the Mark Kneeskern "eYeBall" Scholarship at the Terlingua School.
With last year's success and the blessing from Al and Garth, this new alliance is excited to bring you the 2024 Terlingua Music Bash! The event is still not for profit but any proceeds from donations and the Silent Auction will continue to fund the scholarship.
If you have any questions or want more information, email us at cabin10org@gmail.com
