You're probably thinking Donkey Grass is a funny name for a music fest, well . . . here's the backstory. Cabin 10 always used Fischer Hall for our festivals and for good reason. It's hard to beat the ambience that old structure bares, or the splendid acoustics found within its walls. Covid made rescheduling a bit tricky but we've finally landed on the 3rd weekend of November for our flagship New Folk Old Folk Festival. March, however, is solidly taken so we're going to host Donkey Grass again at the Donkey Shack (just as we did for Donkey Grass 2025) the last weekend of March. Hopefully the weather will be as stellar as it was for New Folk Old Folk but, even with last year's forecast and rainscape, the festival turned out to be wonderful. We're sure this year's will be too.
The Donkey Shack is located in the pasture directly across the road from Fischer Hall. Richard and Penny Solis have always been gracious hosts to our parking and camping, so last year we reciprocated with a selfish favor . . . we built them a shed for their miniature rescue donkeys that doubles as a fine venue for the relocated Jimmie Bell Whipple Stage, hence The Donkey Shack. It's an intimate weekend gathering of good folks enjoying a diverse blend of music that we once referred to as Rice Grass, now called Donkey Grass.
The Event is BYOE (bring your own everything) and be sure to bring your folding chair. There will be port-a-johns, a potable water spigot and one or two food vendors. All camping is self contained (more details about camping on the ticket page).
