You're probably thinking Donkey Grass is a funny name for a music fest, well . . . here's the backstory. In the past, we've always used Fischer Hall for our festivals and for good reason. It's hard to beat the ambience that old structure bares, or the splendid acoustics found within its walls.
Unfortunately, skipping a couple of years of our annual date at the hall due to Covid, we fell off the schedule and are still trying to get that weekend in November back. We are close; we have the 3rd weekend reserved this year for New Folk Old Folk and we'll continue to vie for that 2nd weekend. But, in the interim, we' ve moved things to the pasture directly across the road from the hall. Richard and Penny Solis have always been gracious hosts to our parking and camping, so we reciprocated with a selfish favor . . . we built them a shed for their miniature rescue donkeys that doubles as a fine venue for the relocated Jimmie Bell Whipple Stage. We call it The Donkey Shack. We put the concept of an outdoor festival featuring music at The Donkey Shack to test this past November and found it to be a wonderful experience. So, while we plan to continue our future fall festivals in the Hall (New Folk Old Folk), we invite you to our inaugural spring festy, Donkey Grass. An intimate weekend gathering of good folks enjoying a diverse blend of music that we once referred to as Rice Grass, now called Donkey Grass.
The Event is BYOE (bring your own everything) and be sure to bring your folding chair. There will be port-a-johns, a potable water spigot and one or two food vendors. All camping is self contained (more details about camping on the ticket page).
